I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you

In the last post, i shared dreams that pointed to something significant happening during the Jewish feast of Purim, specifically the second day of the festival which is celebrated in Jerusalem. This year, the feast of Purim was on the 21st and 22nd of March on the Gregorian calendar. So did anything significant happen during this time?

The Blessing

On the 21st of March, US President Trump tweeted,

A few days later, US President Trump, in the presence of Israels Prime Minister Netanyahu signed a presidential proclamation recognizing Israels sovereignty over the Golan Heights in the Northern part of Israel. The proclamation read in part,

The State of Israel took control of the Golan Heights in 1967 to safeguard its security from external threats.  Today, aggressive acts by Iran and terrorist groups, including Hizballah, in southern Syria continue to make the Golan Heights a potential launching ground for attacks on Israel.  Any possible future peace agreement in the region must account for Israel’s need to protect itself from Syria and other regional threats.  Based on these unique circumstances, it is therefore appropriate to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim that, the United States recognizes that the Golan Heights are part of the State of Israel.

This act of favor towards the state of Israel invoked a famous but controversial scripture in Genesis where God tells Abram,

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

Genesis 12:3

The blessing that was given to Trump was swift. The very next day after his tweet, a very important announcement was made concerning the US President. After 22 months of investigations with the help of 19 lawyers who were assisted by a team of approximately 40 FBI agents, intelligence analysts, forensic accountants, and other professional staff, Robert Meuller had not found the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it to have conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Robert Mueller submitted a report of his findings to the US Attorney General William Barr on the 22nd of March.

This was significant because this investigation had been a dark cloud hanging over the Trump Presidency. Some had even suggested impeaching the President if the claims of Trumps collusion with Russia to win the US Presidential elections proved true. Trump had always denied having colluded with the Russians, but the fact that an investigation had been opened about it always made his denials lack credibility. However, after his recognition of Israels sovereignty over the Golan Heights, this stain on his Presidency evaporated into thin air the very next day!

The Curse

Amazingly just before Purim, the scripture above had also been invoked by Israels greatest enemy, Iran. In a speech on the 18th of March, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani urged Iranians to put a curse on the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia. According to ABC news,

Iran’s president on Monday urged Iranians to put a curse on the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia, reiterating his long-standing charge that the U.S. and its allies are responsible for the country’s ailing economy.
President Hassan Rouhani’s remarks were meant to deflect criticism of his administration’s performance amid a spiraling economy after President Donald Trump last year pulled America out of the nuclear deal and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran, targeting Iran’s vital oil sector.

“Put all your curses on those who created the current situation,” Rouhani urged Iranians, adding that “the United States, the Zionists” and Saudi Arabia were to blame. He didn’t say what kind of curses the Iranians should invoke.

The very next day on the 19th, heavy rains began to pour that caused severe flooding in most of the country that led to the deaths of over 60 people in the last two weeks. The Iranian government declared a state of emergency in several provinces threatened by flooding and several thousand people were forced to evacuate their homes. Portions of Golestan, a province in Iran received 50-70 percent of their average rainfall over a five-day period. Some areas recorded approximately 300 mm of rainfall, equivalent to a year’s-worth of rain. These amounts exceeded any accumulations in the region in at least 70 years!

Words are not enough to describe how unprecedented the amount of rainfall in Iran has been since the Iranian Presidents speech. Below is a two and a half minute BBC clip showing the magnitude and devastation caused by the floods.

The heavy down pour and subsequent flooding started a day after the Iranian Presidents call to curse Israel, in fulfillment of Gods word! Whats happening in Iran is sad and so we should keep the people there in prayer. However, this demonstrated that how a nations leadership treats Israel affects is people too. Just like previous similar examples have shown, we need to act with extreme caution when it comes to Israel lest we attract Gods judgment.

Conclusion

It is amazing that we have a case of a blessing and a curse happening within the same week of March, all occurring a day after the trigger events. Such events show that Gods word is true, and that he means what he says.
