kabbalah

This comes from the Hebrew word “qabbala” which means “received doctrine, tradition.”   and also comes from “qibbel” which means “to receive.”  It is a body of mystical teachings of rabbinical origin, often based on esoteric interpretation of Hebrew scripture. It involves analyzing patterns of Hebrew letters in the bible or using gematria to get hidden meanings in the texts. It also means any secret or occult doctrine or science.
