The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the Ukraine War

When Russia invaded Ukraine last month, many questioned how this was related to bible prophecy since Russia plays a major role in the end times. Some suggested that this was somehow going to setup the stage for the Ezekiel War where Russia will lead a group of nations to invade Israel from the North. Others dismissed any connection of this war to bible prophecy since there is no direct involvement of Israel. However as we shall see, there are striking connections to what is currently going on and the Four Horsemen of Revelations 6 that I have found very hard to ignore. This has left me wondering, could the seals of revelation have started to be opened?

The Coronavirus Pandemic and the White Horse

I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!”  I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

Revelations 6:1-2

We have pointed out in a previous article how the coronavirus pandemic had striking connections to the White Horse of Revelations 6. Revelation 6:1-2 talks about a White horse on which is a rider with a bow and a crown. This rider has been traditionally interpreted to represent the antichrist and the crown to represent his authority. The word for crown in Latin is corona, from which the name of the coronavirus comes.

There is more to this connection between the crown, the antichrist and the coronavirus. When you get the number of the position of each letter in the alphabet for the letters that form the word corona and add them, you get a total of 66. There are 6 letters in the word corona. This makes the number 666!

The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.

Revelation 13:15-18

Lastly, the coronavirus pandemic has been a global medical emergency and medical professionals have been at the forefront of this battle in every nation. What is the colour associated with this profession? White! White coats have been seen as the distinctive dress for medical doctors for over 100 years. This links them to the White Horse.

The Russia Ukraine War and the Red Horse

When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

Revelations 6:3-4

When Putin ordered his Generals to invade Ukraine on the 24th of February this year, the whole world was enraged at this apparently “unjustified” act. The nations of the world refused to send their armies to directly counter the Russian invasion. The reason they gave was that they wanted to prevent a potential escalation to a nuclear exchange between Russia and the worlds super powers. However, they decided to instead send arms to Ukraine to help its people defend their land. So we ended up having Russia on one side and Ukraine and the other nations on the other side fighting each other, making this a World War of sorts.

Russia and Ukraine were both once under communist rule and Russia’s most powerful ally is China, which is a communist state. What is the Colour associated with communism? Red! This links them to the Red Horse.

Red is often associated with the left, especially socialism and communism. The oldest symbol of socialism (and by extension communism) is the Red Flag, which dates back to the French Revolution in the 18th century and the revolutions of 1848.

The connection with Russia and Ukraine to the Horsemen goes deeper and gets even more specific to the current scenario.

The resultant financial turmoil and the Black Horse

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!”

Revelations 6:5-6

Russia has been the worlds largest exporter of wheat and Ukraine has been the 5th but because of the current conflict, its production and exportation from the countries has been affected due to the fighting in Ukraine and sanctions imposed on Russia in retaliation.

Both countries account for more than a quarter of the worlds supply of wheat. The two countries have been also a major source of grains such as corn and barley mainly used to feed livestock. Russia and Ukraine account for almost 30% of the worlds barley supply. So the uncertainties and disruptions caused by this war has led to the price of wheat, barley and other foods they supply to the world to surge. This is what the scripture in Revelations 6:5-6 pictures, inflation which rises to a point where people are spending a days wages on a basic commodity like wheat and barley, or their products like bread. This could be a possibility especially in low income countries which have been heavily dependent on Ukrainian or Russian wheat.

The flag of Ukraine is also connected to wheat. The flag consists of a stripe of blue over one of yellow.

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, the flag was designed this way to reflect blue skies over golden wheat fields!

The connection to the black horse continues. Russia is the 2nd largest exporter of crude oil and the first of natural gas. Europe imports up to 40% of its natural gas supplies from Russia. Despite the worlds anger towards Russia and sanctions on the nation, the western powers have failed to completely cutoff the oil supplies from Russia in retaliation for the invasion because of the impact such an action would have on them and the world! The US and UK have made moves to abandon Russian oil but countries like Germany and the Netherlands which are heavily dependent on their gas have rejected this option for now since they do not have a readily available alternative supply for their energy needs. This fits the part of the scripture that says, “Do not damage the oil…..“

The areas of finance, economics and business are managed by professionals who often put on black business suits, linking them to the black horse!

Conclusion

The connections between the Horsemen and the current crises we face are too precise to ignore. We therefore have to consider the possibility that Revelations 6 has started being fulfilled which may go against the traditional views held by many of us. If this is the case, the end time judgments of God upon the earth have began. At the very least, God wants to get our attention through these events so that we can get ready for the return of the Messiah, and also help others not only to understand the times, but to be ready too.

When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.” Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events…

When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
