The United States (US) vetoes Unite Nations (UN) Jerusalem draft resolution
In a previous post it was mentioned that an important date for us to watch was the 7th day of Hanukkah which began at sundown the 18th of December and ended sundown 19th of December, Jerusalem time. The first significant event that occurred during this time frame was the US blocking a UN draft resolution that would have compelled Donald Trump to reverse his recent declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. According to Reuters,
The U.N. draft resolution affirmed “that any decisions and actions which purport to have altered the character, status or demographic composition of the Holy City of Jerusalem have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded in compliance with relevant resolutions of the Security Council.”
According to the same source, the same draft resolution also called on countries not to establish diplomatic missions in Jerusalem. This would also have forced a stop to Trumps plan of moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Saudi Arabia intercepts Riyadh bound missile
Also on Tuesday the 19th, reports emerged of a missile that had been intercepted in Saudi Arabian airspace launched by the Houthi rebels in Yemen. According to Aljazeera;
Houthi rebels said on Tuesday they had launched a ballistic missile targeting al-Yamama royal palace to mark 1,000 days since the coalition started its bombing campaign in Yemen. “This is our answer to them and to the whole world,” Abdulmalik al-Houthi, the rebels’ leader, said in a televised address. “The more crimes you perpetrate, the more tyrannical you are, you will meet nothing but more missiles.” The Saudi-led coalition said that the missile was directed at residential areas and that there were no casualties, according to SPA, the Saudi state-run news agency.
This has happened less than a week after Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN accused Iran of supplying the same rebels with the missiles they are using to target Saudi Arabia. According to CNN;
A US official said prior to Haley’s remarks that the presentation is part of a new Trump administration effort to ratchet up pressure on Tehran as the administration weighs whether to stay in the Iran nuclear deal which was negotiated by the previous administration.
Past posts on this site have discussed the prophetic significance of the Iran nuclear deal and that’s why this missile incident was considered relevant for us to take note.
The 8th and last day of Hanukkah has started as of the writing of this post, and will end at sundown 20th. Though this is now outside the time frame of the 120 days we have been watching, its still important for us to continue watching what happens on this day.
